300 challenge - 100 of 300 done

Yesterday (10.10.2013) I made the 100th shot of the challenge, 1/3 of the total 300 are ready.

200 left - and it looks like it's going to be harder - "winter is coming" or even came here as the temperatures dropped to 8°C (which is normal temperature for the winters here), from 20+ few days ago.

300 challenge - 20% milestone reached

Yesterday 06.10.2013 I manged to get to the first milestone - 20%
6 films out of 30 exposed (60 shots out of 300)
24 to go :) (240)
"From those 300 there will be only 3 shots worth something" as some people said about my challenge - and let's hopes so :) 3 good shots should be worth it...

300 challenge - the gear used

Lets write quick explanation:
2 lenses 65mm/4 and 110mm/2.8
Cable for mirror lock-up and shutter release (very useful at night shots a lot less shaking)
External light meter, as my camera does not have internal one (I don't have/use the focusing prism)
Currently 2 backs - 120 roll film one and polaroid/instant film - the second is very useful again at night shots as I don't have much practice taking pictures after sunset - sometimes I just make one polaroid shot to check up if my settings are correct.
And not to forget - the camera :D Mamiya RZ67 ProII

3.10.13

300 challenge - got new films

the rest of the films to make them 30
for the 300 shots
will use these 25 tri-x 400
+ 1 foma 200
+ 2 rollei retro
+ 2 orwo old school expired films - in order to spice up the challenge even more :)

2.10.13

300 challenge - first films

These will be the first 3 films - Fomapan 200 and Rollei Retro 100
The one in the middle is already exposed (with all the issues that I had) yesterday 01.10.2013

And I managed to find and replace the battery.
Will finish work in 40 min and the day 2 shooting  will continue, going to buy films and take picture in Paris

300 - challenge - first mistakes

My battery went down during the first round yesterday - so I switched to (powerless mode) with the hope that I can continue do pictures like that, just few hours later I remembered that in this mode the speed is stuck at 1/400 - so the shots in the dark will be just black without any white :)
Will look for battery today during lunch break.
It looks something like that - so it is not easy to find.

here is what I have found in the manual:

If you were to suddenly find yourself with a
dead battery in the midst of a photographic
session, switch over to the emergency shutter
operation mode. In order to do so, push the
Collar Stop lever “D” toward the camera body
and while holding it there align the white dot of
the Release Button Collar with the orange dot
“E” on the camera body. The shutter will now
operate (even without a battery) at approximately
1/400 sec., regardless of the setting of
the Shutter Speed Dial.
Because electricity is not being used in the
emergency shutter operation mode, the
Monitor Lamps in the viewfinder will not
illuminate. Moreover, even if the Dark Slide is
not withdrawn, the shutter can still be
released, so exercise care.

300 photo challenge - 2

...
Normally when I go for a weekend to shoot somewhere I make between 2-6 shots in 3 days :D
So making 10 a day it's close to insanity for me
The other point that I will try to follow, is not just shoot whatever for the number but actually try to catch some nice street shot or to make some of the ideas left in the drawer for better (when the laziness is not that strong) times

300 photo challenge - route from day 1

Today I managed to complete the 10 shots in about 2 hours walk,
some shots were made after sunset (started at 18:30h finished at 20h )
Probably the first films will be developed this the weekend
I used rollei retro 100 film today (have one more of these left)
I will also use my last foma 200
Then I plan to switch to tri-x 400

First two experimental videos

The Night Sky from urbangrey on Vimeo.

this one is an experiment, the first draft of the idea that I think to develop in the future with better quality and representation.

It looks like the film making starts to interest me more and more and photography less and less:

https://vimeo.com/68438061 just a funny video - the first one I ever made.

"The Script System"

http://www.milomoire.com/

"Furniture Free Friday goes a bit clothes free this week. What?! Why not.

Imagine waking up in the morning, have a little breakfast, get dressed to go to work make your way to work, follow the same routine, all in the norm. Until boom! German artist Milo Moiré’s latest curated performance “The Script System” happens upon you.

Moiré recently sent a naked model to the streets in Dusseldorf with the names written on the skin of clothes to wear, confusing commuters with his provocative piece.

Aimed to draw attention to fighting stereotypes, the performance art piece forces us to take stock of our routines, what we may call mundane or a chore and re-analyse our world… nothing that every day is different, and that the world around us may hold more interest than we sometimes realize.

We’ll be on the look out for something special next time we’re travelling, be it nude or not!"
